Tour de Fat Volunteer Registration is now open!

Volunteer sign up is now open for the 2014 Tour de Fat! Get your team registered early for the best assignments.
The annual New Belgium Tour de Fat is on Saturday, October 4th this year. The event is run by volunteers and all proceeds go directly to the Tempe Bicycle Action Group, Bike Saviours Bicycle Collective, the Mountain Bike Association of Arizona, and the Central Arizona Mountain Bike Patrol and others.

To sign up you and your team to volunteer, go to http://www.biketempe.org/events/tour-de-fat or click here

Volunteers are an indispensable part of the success of Tour de Fat; they make sure everyone has a great time sharing their love of bicycles, beer and brotherhood. Thanks for being eager to stay informed, and we hope to see you there!

The event in Tempe is one of the largest on New Belgium’s tour. We drew over 10,000 people last year, and we need about 400 volunteers to ensure that the event goes smoothly. As a volunteer you’ll get 2 free beer tokens & a volunteer t-shirt. Plus, it will be fun – so sign up now!

Soft launch the new shop this sunday!

If you haven’t been checking our social media (because you’re one of those unsocial blog persons), we have our new location ready for basic repair work. Our supplies and register are still scattered right now, so if you must have a part, please do not pester our busy volunteers about it endlessly, but do seek it out from any of our fine local shop friends (Bike Cellar, REI).

Please stop by this Sunday @ 3pm – 6pm and help us work on our new format!!

Bike Saviours at the REI Bike Drive in Tempe on 4/6

If you’re itching to get some bikes and parts off your hands during our brief shop hiatus, come visit all your favorite Saviours at REI in Tempe for their bike donation drive. We’ll be there from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. with tax donation receipts and smiles, ready to take your bike stuff to turn it into usable forms of transportation.

See you there!!

Get your project bike by 3/24

Since Sunday will be our last open shop day in the old location, we ask that you buy your project bike off the rack by then or they will be put out as fair game in the new shop.

We’re sorry if this complicates the bike building process for you and we hope you’ll bear with us through the technical difficulties of moving. Our goal is to make moving simpler for us so hopefully you all understand!

Thanks!!

We’re Moving and We need your Help

Hi Saviours!

We just found out that it’s time for Bike Saviours to find a new home by April 5. We’re excited to change it up and start fresh, but it will be a lot of work. Since we’ll need time to prep everything and find a place, the shop will be closed March 25 onward with as short of a hiatus as possible. Unfortunately, this also means that Art Night is on hiatus until we can figure everything out with our new space. What we’d like from you is-

1) Tell us what you’d like the new shop to be like– i.e. where it is, what’s there, etc.

2) Let us know if you know of any great spaces or nice realtors that we can move into. We’re all looking, but if you know of any retail/warehouse spaces with about 1000 sq feet around public transit hubs in Tempe that is relatively inexpensive please tell us!
We can also offer any landlord a tax deduction receipt for rent breaks.

3) Help us move! We’ll be moving the weekend before our lease is up, which is March 30 and 31. Free beer and hugs and smiles for all helpers!
Join in on the fun here:
Moving Party

4) Finally, SPREAD THE WORD! The more people who know, the better.

Thanks for your continued support!!

BIKE SAVIOURS NEEDS YOU!

…to trade your car for a bike!!!

If you or someone you know would like to trade your car for a bike New Belgium will pay up to $2250 for you to build up a bike of your choice.
This is an awesome opportunity and a great part of the show every year. It’d be a shame to not have it in 2012.
DO YOU HAVE THE CHUTZPAH TO TRADE IN YOUR GAS GUZZLER FOR TWO WHEELS OF FREEDOM!?!?!?!

Tour de Fat is almost here!

Hello out there!

Us Saviours are SOOO excited for Tour de Fat on Saturday at Tempe Beach Park. The parade starts at 10 a.m. and the festivities start back at the park at 11 a.m. Devotchka is playing along with some other crazy silly cool bands. It’s free to get in and only $5 per beer. Did we mention all proceeds go to us, TBAG and MBAA? That’s pretty amazing! Make sure to check out the fun events happening all this week in preparation fot TdF too!!

Quick reminder that if you’re able to help out, the organizers still really need people to sign up for teardown, which will happen from approximately 4 p.m. til 7 or 8 p.m. after the show. You get an awesome t-shirt if you help out plus two free beers. Please sign up here if you can volunteer. Registration ends tomorrow night, so get on it!!

In other news, Bike Saviours will be closed Sunday, October 7th so our volunteers can rest after the big event– plus we’re shooting the 2013 Bike Saviours calendar in the shop that day! If you’re interested in modeling, please e-mail heather@bikesaviours.org.

That’s all for now!
Hope to see you all this Saturday in your finest costumes!
